Volunteering at Share

At Share we rely on our volunteers to keep us running, and in return we offer a relaxed, calm environment where you will meet a variety of people and be part of something really important. We appreciate that your time is precious and we will work with you to make sure that you have a fulfilling role, with great training and learning opportunities guaranteed.

Here are some of the current ways to get involved at Share:

Centre Volunteers

We are currently recruiting for a friendly, enthusiastic individuals to get stuck in with the day-to-day admin and reception duties at our busy therapy centre. For a copy of the role description and information on how to apply email us office@sharepsychotherapy.org.

Therapist roles

We are always keen to hear from qualified therapists. As Share is a voluntary organisation, we would not be able to offer low-cost therapy without the generosity of our therapists.

Volunteering with Share will give you the opportunity to work with clients who cannot otherwise access psychotherapy, over a long period of time. Beyond direct one-one therapy, there are opportunities to develop skills in assessment, long-term therapy and participate in research projects.

Qualified Therapists

Are you a fully qualified (BACP/HCPC/UKCP) counsellor, creative therapist or psychotherapist able to spare three or four hours per week? Would you like to join a small but vital mental health charity in Sheffield, facilitating weekly, long-term psychotherapy for those most in need?

Expectations:

We ask our qualified therapists to commit to 4 hours a week, for a minimum of a year.

In return we offer:

  • Fortnightly supervision groups. (a max of 4 therapists in each group).

  • Ad hoc support from our clinical team.

  • Free access to regular CPD events with both in-house trainers and external facilitators.

  • Use of Share’s extensive physical library.

Treasurer Vacancy

Are you interested in promoting good mental health in Sheffield?

Would you like to volunteer for an established psychotherapy charity? We work at the vital intersection of psychological distress and poverty in the city and provide an excellent learning environment for qualified and qualifying counsellors and therapists alike.

Are you a qualified or part-qualified accountant?

Do you have specialist financial management skills to offer?

We’re looking for a suitably qualified accountant to join us as our Treasurer, taking the lead on financial matters but also playing a full role on the Board of Trustees in the overall management of the charity. The role would suit an experienced accountant wishing to contribute on a voluntary basis to a valuable charitable cause. Equally it would provide excellent board level experience for a young professional at an earlier stage in their career. We have strong clinical services, administrative and business systems in place and continue to seek to increase and diversify our income. We want to make an even bigger contribution to improving mental health in Sheffield and we’re especially keen to attract people from minority communities to the Board. Please have a look at the role description and feel free to contact one of the co-chairs, Lynn or Astrid, for an informal chat. Email: lynn.keirs@sharepsychotherapy.org or astrid.walkerbourne@sharepsychotherapy.org

  • Service user involvement

  • Web design and digital marketing

  • Management and business systems

  • Clinical management - especially in mental health

We are part way through a change process at Share - developing and strengthening our clinical services, improving our administrative and business systems and strengthening our financial position. We want to build upon our position as a centre of excellence in psychotherapy and make an even bigger contribution to improving mental health in Sheffield.

Would you like to help us in this venture? We are looking for people with specialist skills who are willing to help in a voluntary capacity; either as a trustee on our board, or as a specialist volunteer contributing on a project basis. We are willing to consider a wide range of contributions.
