Volunteering at Share
Volunteering at Share
At Share we rely on our volunteers to keep us running, and in return we offer a relaxed, calm environment where you will meet a variety of people and be part of something really important. We appreciate that your time is precious and we will work with you to make sure that you have a fulfilling role, with great training and learning opportunities guaranteed.
Here are some current ways to get involved at Share.
Board Roles
We are actively recruiting for trustees, including a Vice Chair and trustees with specific knowledge of clinical governance and facilities management. To apply for either of these roles on our board, please send your CV and a Covering Letter to carolyn.usher@sharepsychotherapy.org.
Vice-Chair of Trustees
Share Psychotherapy (Share) is recruiting for a Vice-Chair of Trustees to join our board and support our current Chair. You will be a key part of supporting and guiding our work in providing long-term counselling and psychotherapy to people across Sheffield, especially those facing financial hardship.
We are in an exciting phase of development, engaging with key stakeholders to shape our 5-year framework 2026 – 2030.
Using your skills in leadership, communication, integrity and openness, you will work alongside our Chair to lead the board in supporting Share’s future.

Trustee - Clinical Governance
We are looking for an experienced psychotherapist or mental health clinician or service leader who wants to use their expertise to support our amazing service. You'll bring valuable clinical insight to our Board, provide appropriate safeguarding oversight and support to our Clinical Manager.
You don’t need previous trustee experience to apply but your clinical expertise is key. If you are seeking to apply your skills and knowledge to a new setting, this will be fantastic opportunity to gain experience and a fresh perspective, whilst supporting Share’s future.

If you’d like to discuss these opportunities, in the first instance please contact our Chair, Astrid Walker Bourne astrid.walkerbourne@sharepsychotherapy
Therapist Roles
We are always keen to hear from qualified therapists. As Share is a voluntary organisation, we would not be able to offer low-cost therapy without the generosity of our therapists.
Volunteering with Share will give you the opportunity to work with clients who cannot otherwise access psychotherapy, over a long period of time. Beyond direct one-one therapy, there are opportunities to develop skills in assessment, long-term therapy and participate in research projects.
Qualified Therapists
Are you a fully qualified (BACP/HCPC/UKCP) counsellor, creative therapist or psychotherapist able to spare five hours per week? Would you like to join a small but vital mental health charity in Sheffield, facilitating weekly, long-term psychotherapy for those most in need?
We ask our qualified therapists to commit to 5 hours a week, for a minimum of 18 months. However, due to the nature of our service and the long-term therapy which we offer, a two year commitment is our preference.
In return we offer:
Fortnightly supervision groups. (a max of 4 therapists in each group).
Ad hoc support from our experienced clinical team.
Free access to regular CPD events with both in-house trainers and external facilitators.
Use of Share’s extensive physical library.
If interested, please contact our office at office@sharepsychotherapy.org.
